Interactive Jazz Piano helps you express your complex, innermost feelings through your own improvised jazz composition. It was a project I worked on with Jens in the course Intro to Programming. We used P5 and Java connected to Ableton.
You start by typing in how you are feeling right now. We then use sentiment analysis to determine if your composition, based on current emotion, is uplifting or melancholic. A number of circles are generated on the screen in random sizes and positions.
Hovering the cursor over a circle plays a note. Pressing the the A or S key plays base notes and generates new circles. Congratulations! You have just created your very own jazz composition.
The concept was inspired by the simple animations and a minimal jazz soundtrack of 1960s movie titles.
